Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone massage is a form of Swedish massage where hot rocks are used instead of the therapist’s hands. This works by applying the hot stones and moving them in a fashion that allows the heat to work deeper into the tissues with less pressure. The rocks used are made of Basalt stone. This type of stone is collected from a volcanic area and is the same rock found in volcanos. This allows the rocks to hold the temperatures for longer periods of time. The rocks are typically heated to 140oF but can be modified based on comfort.

Cupping Massage

One of the most ancient forms of massage, cupping is when you use special plastic cups to apply a lifting pressure to areas of the body where the suction will lift the skin and create the intended reaction. Suction cupping can be used for almost everything traditional massage can be used for but is typically applied when the intended reaction needs to happen at an accelerated rate. It is wonderful for releasing toxins from the body which is where the well-known discolouration happens. Detoxification happens when the suction applied causes stagnation which is when the old, damaged tissues are pulled to the surface. Once at the surface, the lymphatic system can carry it away. The discolouration typically lasts from 24-72 hours but in some people, it can last up to a week.

Common conditions cupping massage can help include: Chronic pain, Muscle Tension, Scar tissue, Anxiety, Inflammation, Edema, Cellulite, Rheumatism and much more.
